You know it, the endless stream of drawings and crafts that come home with your kid from school & more…. Very nice! At first you melt away, hang them everywhere, and save them lovingly in a box. They also make a perfect gift for family and friends!

But the time comes that everyone has more than enough; the box runs over…what to do?

I’m just not the kind of person that throws away easily, see many ways to recycle, or cherish a memory in lots of things… But there are limits.

Here is my solution!!

I save a school year of drawings and crafts from school, (we take a picture of what is to big of ill sized) and I put it together with photo’s of outings, birthdays, everything that happened and was important for the kid, along with the drawings and crafts made at home of anywhere else… And of course tickets, flyers, maps, greeting cards…

Then we put it al together in a folder, in order of the school year (sometimes a few years fit together in one folder). I let the kid choose its folder, or if possible let it decorate the folder with drawings or texts, just so that it stays flat in order to store it .

And everything that does not get in to the folder is thrown away. (very special items may make it to the special storage box)

My kids love to look back and remember what they did & made. And it helps them to remember, placing events, repeating certain things in the year like birthdays, seasons, holidays….. people that were important, places that were visited. It also provides lots and lots of conversation about all kind of things!

For everyone who do wants to save, but also wants to stay practical and organised.
